Nasscom and CBI Joined Hands To Fight Cyber Crime
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) to share experiences on controlling cyber crime.

As part of the agreement, Nasscom and Data Security Council of India (DSCI) will act as knowledge partners for the CBI in the area of cyber security. “Cyber security is emerging as a major corporate and government concern worldwide. This partnership will enable Nasscom to play the role of a facilitator and bring the latest technological developments to the CBI,” National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) President Som Mittal told reporters here.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashwani Kumar, director of CBI said, “With the advent of technology, the investigation profession is seeing new approaches, solutions and techniques for solving specific and generic problems. Security in organizations has undergone changes; its structure continues to evolve, but it is even more visible in an organization and its responsibilities continue to expand. This MoU will direct, guide, and help the law enforcement agencies to fight the growing threat of cyber crime.

Earlier in August 1999, CBI had created the Cyber Investigation Cell (CIC) for investigating cyber crime including website defacement, phishing attacks, pornography, credit card frauds and other economic offences in the country. But the collaboration with Nasscom to fight the threat is a proper way to investigate the matters.
